In May of 1947 my entire family (Grandpa & Grandma John & Stella Majecki along with their three children, Stella (my mom) Eddie and Blanche and my dad Vincent Zukowski) left our home at 1242 Pinshot Place, Bronx New York and headed for Tucson, AZ
The sale of this property gave my grandparents the funds to purchase the land in Tucson and build 5 duplex units starting in 1949.

My grandpa John Majecki and his son Edward (who suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis) were always busy building on their one acre lot on E. Farr Place.  Uncle Eddie was the architect and building supervisor and grandpa was the whole construction crew.

This picture was taken of the second duplex going up on the west side of their Tucson property.  A total of 5 duplex were constructed over 5 years.  All by grandpa and Eddie.

If you take a close look at the picture above, you will notice the large Tamarack tree at the top leftside.  The entire front of this property was full of these giant trees.
Our neighborhood had lots of these trees and they were always a wonderful place for us kids to play and stay cool in the hot Tucson summers.

Once I was old enough to ride my bike around the neighborhood I had the chance to find new friends.

My best friend was John Cicala.  John also had three younger brothers, Armen, Bill and Tuffy.  With my brother Larry, and a few other neighbor kids we had a pretty good group of kids to play sports and Army games with during the summer vacations.

Yesterday, Nov 8, 2020 I experienced something unique.
I accidently read an online news item about a fire on Mt Lemmon in Tucson.  On that same NBC channel I saw the name, Paul Cicala.  Wow, could he be related to my old friends?
I emailed him and he responded...YES.

I quickly started this Nugget to help save and share the memories I hope to tell Paul and learn what happened to the Cicala family over the past 60 years.
